Oxford Brookes University เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยที่เปิดทำการสอนมายาวนานกว่า 150 ปี โดยเริ่มจากการเปิดเป็นสถาบันขนาดเล็กที่มีชื่อว่า Oxford School of Art ในปี ค.ศ. 1865 ต่อมาได้มีการยกระดับวิทยฐานะเป็นมหาวิทยาลัย และเปลี่ยนชื่อสถาบันเพื่อเป็นการให้เกียรติแก่ John Henry Brookes ศิลปินชาวอังกฤษที่มีความสำคัญเป็นอย่างมากต่อระบบการศึกษาของ Oxford School of Art

ปัจจุบัน Oxford Brookes University เปิดสอนทั้งหมด 4 คณะ ได้แก่ Business, Health and Life Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences และ Technology, Design and Environment โดยสาขาที่มีชื่อเสียงมากที่สุดคือ Architecture แต่สำหรับน้อง ๆ ที่ต้องการจะเรียนต่อด้านกฎหมาย ที่นี่ก็มีหลักสูตร LLM International Law ที่กต.รับรองเปิดสอนอยู่เช่นกัน
